Lately I’ve been starting my days reading a Psalm or two. Sometimes I peek out the window and catch a beautiful sunrise in the making. Today I was so blessed by God’s good timing….
I started in Psalm chapter one about a month and a half ago. Today I came to Psalm 74. “Yours is the day, Yours also is the night; You have prepared the light and the sun. You have established all the boundaries of the earth; You have made summer and winter.” As I read these words in verses 16 and 17 , I glanced out my window to see this stunning view. How perfect that this sunrise happened to fall on the day I came to this Psalm. How perfect that I was reading these words at the moment the sun broke the horizon. The earlier sight of the winter-bare trees against the dusky blue backdrop of the clear pre-dawn sky had moved me to rearrange chairs and tables so I could sit facing out the window as I started my day. Thank You, Heavenly Father! Sometimes I want to scold myself for dawdling to look out the window when there are things to do, but lately I’ve been reminded that “the Heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1, KJV). And I pause and take it all in. I marvel at the nuance of color in the clouds, at the subtle moment-by-moment changes, and the greatness of it all. And I marvel at the God who spoke it into being and holds it all in His hands!
