Snow Globe Beauty

As I made my way to my comfiest chair with my mug of coffee this morning, I opened up the blinds to my backyard view and looked out on an ethereal, glitter-confetti kind of effect, as a thousand tiny flakes meandering down from the mostly blue sky caught rays of mid-morning sun. For an hour or so I sit, I sip my coffee and read my Bible and pray, glancing up from time to time to see if the sparkles are still there. It is kind of magical—like living in a snow globe.

And I can’t help but think how the beauty of a snow globe is only appreciated once it has been turned upside down and given a little shake. And maybe today you feel a bit shaken by life’s events. Maybe your world is a little upside down. If so, I just want to encourage you that sometimes that’s just what it takes to reveal something beautiful that God is working out in your life. Put your trust in Him, keep trusting in Him in faith and obedience, and in time the beauty of His plan will sparkle.

Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18, New American Standard Bible
